English Version (Deutsche Version unten): Once upon a long time ago, there was an island … some Dutch, some Indians and some beads. And those beads led to steamboats and skyscrapers, Wall Street and electric lights, newspapers, Ellis Island, the Yankees, Central Park and the first World’s Fair, Broadway, the Chrysler Building and Studio 54. I like to think of that as New York City B.C: Before Carrie.

Over the years we have learned a lot about fashion, friendship, love and life from our favorite girls Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte from Sex and the City.

I think no other series has inspired the fashion world as much as SATC did. I guess every girl somehow dreams of being a little bit like these four women. Living in New York City, having girlfriends that always stick together, always wearing the latest designer pieces and spending time at the coolest places in the city together. How could life be any better?!

Since I was in High school I was a big fan of the tv show. I have watched the entire series several times and I think it was somehow part of the reason why I always knew I wanted to work in fashion.

After high school I lived in New York City for a while. Now I am in my fifth semester of studying fashion design and for my internship I came back to my favorite city.

I think New York has some kind of magnetic attraction to me like it used to have for Carrie.

During my stay in NYC i have teamed up with OnLocationTours to take part of their Sex and The City location tour.

Can you imagine anything more fun than spending a day with lots of Sex and the City  fans in a bus to see the film locations of your favorite TV show? I can’t …

The tour started in front of the Plaza Hotel where the opening scene of the second movie took place. Carries talks about how she came to NYC and how she met her three best friends over the years.

Do you remember the scene in the first movie where Carrie and Mr. Big are celebrating their engagement party? The event takes places at a super fancy restaurant called Buddakan. This was our first stop of the tour. It still kinda has the Sex and the City vibe.

Moreover we saw the Public Library at Bryant Park where Carrie was waiting for Mr. Big on their wedding day. He didn’t show up. When she left the building she saw him getting out of the car and started slapping him with her flower bouquet. From the bus we saw exactly that street.

After that we had a stop at Carrie’s apartment. She’s often seen working on her laptop in front of the window of her apartment. We had the chance to take photos in front the building where she used to live in the series.

From there we walked to the famous little Magnolia Bakery where Carrie used to get her cupcakes. We even got a free cupcake from the tour guide.

Before we stopped at the locations we saw the scene that was filmed in each place on screens in the bus.

Another highlight of the tour was the stop at the Scout Bar that was owned by Carries former boyfriend Aiden. The bar is actually called O’Nieal’s.
We even got a discount on the favorite drink of the SATC girls: THE COSMOPOLITAN.

I really enjoyed the tour and met many cool people. Especially our tour guide Melissa was super nice and really funny.

In case that you are currently in NYC or that you are planning a trip to Manhattan any time soon I can really recommend this fun tour.

Sex and the City – über die Jahre haben wir viel über Fashion, Liebe und das Leben von unseren vier Lieblingscharakteren Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte und Miranda gelernt.

Kaum eine andere Serie hat die Modewelt so beeinflusst wie SATC. Ich denke, jede Frau beneidet die vier Freundinnen, zumindest ein bisschen, um ihr Leben. In New York City zu wohnen, tolle Freundinnen zu haben, die immer zusammenhalten, immer die neusten Designerklamotten zu tragen und Zeit in den coolsten Locations in New York zu verbringen … wie könnte das Leben noch besser sein?!

Seit etwa der 7. Klasse war ich ein großer Fan der Serie. Mittlerweile habe ich die komplette Serie mehrmals gesehen und ich denke, dass sie Teil des Grundes war, warum ich immer wusste, dass ich in der Modebranche arbeiten wollte.

Nach meinem Abitur habe ich dann eine Weile lang in New York gewohnt. Mittlerweile bin ich im fünften Semester meines Modedesignstudiums und bin für mein Praktikum zurückgekehrt in meine Lieblingsstadt.

Während meines Aufenthaltes in New York habe ich mich mit OnLocationTours zusammengetan, um euch die Sex-and-the-City-Locationtour vorzustellen.

Könnt ihr euch etwas Cooleres vorstellen, als mit lauter Sex-and-the-City-Fans in einem Bus durch die Stadt zu fahren und all die Drehorte eurer Lieblingsszenen zu sehen?!

Unsere Tour ging vor dem Plaza Hotel los, wo die erste Szene des 2. SATC-Films gedreht wurde. In der Szene lässt Carrie Revue passieren, wie sie damals nach New York kam und dort ihre drei besten Freundinnen kennenlernte.

Vielleicht erinnern sich einige von euch noch an die Verlobungsparty von Carrie und Mr. Big. Sie haben im Buddakan gefeiert, einem exklusiven Restaurant. Genau diese Location war unser erster Stopp. Der Raum mit den eleganten Kronleuchtern ist einfach wunderschön und ich habe mich sofort in den Film hineinversetzt gefühlt.

Außerdem sind wir an dem Starbucks vorbeigefahren, in dem Carrie im ersten Film die Bewerbungsgespräche geführt hat, um eine neue Assistentin zu finden. Wer erinnert sich noch an den Namen ihrer neuen Assistentin? Richtig, Louise aus St. Louis! 😉

Weiter ging es zur New York Library am Bryant Park, wo Carrie im ersten Film auf Mr. Big wartet, um ihn zu heiraten. Nachdem er nicht auftaucht, stürmt sie aus dem Gebäude und sieht, wie er gerade aus dem Auto steigt. Sie nimmt ihren Blumenstrauß und schlägt ihn damit. Auch diese Straße haben wir während der Tour gesehen. Besonders cool war es, die Szenen auf Monitoren anzuschauen, bevor wir am jeweiligen Drehort angekommen sind.

Ein ganz besonderes Highlight der Tour war es, bei Carries Apartment in der Perry Street anzuhalten und dort Fotos vor ihrer Wohnung zu machen. Carrie wird oft gezeigt, wie sie vor ihrem Fenster sitzt und nach draußen schaut, während sie an ihrem Laptop arbeitet.
Um die Ecke von ihrem Apartment befindet sich die Magnolia Bakery. Hier kauft Carrie immer ihre berühmten Cupcakes. Von unserem Tourguide Melissa haben wir sogar einen Cupcake geschenkt bekommen.

Ein weiteres Highlight war der Abstecher zur Scout Bar, die in der Serie Carries ehemaligen Freund Aiden gehört. In Wirklichkeit heißt die bar O’Nieal’s, sieht allerdings noch fast genau so aus wie in der Serie. Dort haben wir Cosmopolitans getrunken, bevor es weiterging (auf die Drinks gab es Rabatt 😉 ).

Während der Tour habe ich habe ich viele coole Leute kennengelernt und hatte richtig viel Spaß. Die Atmosphäre im Bus ist einfach total lustig, da einfach jeder ein großer Fan der Serie ist. Unsere Tour-Begleiterin Melissa war richtig lustig und konnte jede Frage zu der Serie beantworten.

Falls ihr gerade in New York seid oder einen Trip in den Big Apple plant, kann ich euch die Tour nur empfehlen. Nicht nur, dass man viel von der Stadt sieht, man bekommt zudem die Chance, New York durch die Augen von Carrie Samantha, Miranda und Charlotte kennenzulernen.
